Chandra Namaskar, the moon salutation, is made up of two words: namaskar, which means "to salute," and chandra, which means "moon." Just as the moon has no light of its own but reflects the light of the sun, so too the Moon Salutation practice is a reflection of Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar).
